Mazal Tov to our Man and Youth of the Year!
The Northern New Jersey Region of Men's Club will hold its annual Man and Youth of the Year dinner on Wednesday, November 16 at 6:00 pm at Grand Marquis Caterers in Old Bridge. Our honorees this year are Man of the Year Marc Weinstein and Youth of the Year Emma Mael. If you are interested in attending the dinner, please contact Craig Artel or Nate Kean as soon as possible.
Dr. Julius and Ethel Mintz Scholar-in-Residence Shabbaton
The 5th Annual Dr. Julius and Ethel Mintz Scholar-in-Residence Sabbaton with Rabbi Amy Kalmanofsky will be on November 18 and 19. The deadline to regiser for Shabbat dinner has been extended until Monday, November 14.
Roasting the Rabbi
Don't miss all the fun! Join us on Saturday, December 3 for Rabbi Eliot Malomet's 50th Birthday Celebration and Roast at 8:00 pm at the Temple. Invitations have just been mailed; make sure you RSVP by November 20!
Inaugural Teenage Congregation Service
All teens ages 12 and older are invited to attend our first Teenage Congregation Service this Shabbat, November 12, at 10 am. This is a service of the teens, for the teens and by the teens. A special "Teen Kiddush" will follow! Contact Al Davis for more information.

HPCT-CAE is co-sponsoring the Fifth Annual L'dor Vador Claire and Irving Teicher Concert, featuring Craig Taubman, at Congregation B'nai Tikvah on Sunday, December 11 at 4:00 pm.

Men's Club News
All are welcome to the Men's Club Breakfast and Speaker on Sunday, November 13 at 9:00 a.m. to hear Jim Alexrod from CBS News discuss his new book, In the Long Run, in which he confronts his life, including personal and professional challenges. Copies of his book can be purchased and signed by the author. A light breakfast will be served. Cost is $5 for men's club members or $10 for non-members.
Sisterhood News
Sisterhood is having their 3rd Annual Mitzvah Day and Soup Swap on Sunday, November 20 at 10 am. Come and help make, taste, purchase a variety of soups. There will also be many mitzvahs to choose from such as making flower pots and get well cards for home bound temple members, challah covers for the temple and bringing a non-perishable food item for the Highland Park Food Pantry. Kids are welcome to help out too! RSVP to Lynette Seader or Joy Kuchinsky.

The next Sisterhood Book Discussion is Sunday, December 4 at 10:30 a.m. at the home of Lynette Seader. The book being discussed is Day After Night by Anita Diamant and the moderator is Susan Rosengarten. RSVP to Lynette Seader if you plan on attending.

Sisterhood's Paid-up Membership Dinner is Monday, December 5th at 6:30 pm at the Temple. Enjoy a home-cooked dinner by the Sisterhood Chefs, a tricky tray auction, and presentation by our members on bios of many Jewish Hollywood legends, young and old. Dinner is free if your $30.00 membership fee has been paid. RSVP to Rachel Modiano, Susan Winter or Marnie Kean by November 25.

Sisterhood is now taking orders for 2011 Mah Jongg Cards. Based on the number of cards sold, the Mah Jongg League will make a donation to Sisterhood. Cost is $7 for standard size and $8 for large print. Please contact Mindy Golden by January 31 to place your order.

The Nature of Aging and Longevity
All are welcome to hear Dr. Michael Nissenblatt, Associate Director of Oncology at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, speak on Thursday, December 1 at 8:00 pm at the Temple. His lecture is titled From Here to Eternity: The Nature of Aging and Longevity. Suggested donation is $6.00 for members. Light refreshments will be served.
USY International Convention - Help Needed!
This year's USY International Convention will be held at the Marriot Philadelphia Downtown from December 25-29, 2011. Chaperones are needed for all days of the convention. Since our USY region, HaGalil, is one of the host regions, Chaperones will be coming from all over New Jersey. Chaperones can volunteer for 2 hour shifts on any one (or more) of the days and attend sessions of the Convention. Come light Chanukah candles with 1,000 USY'ers. If you are interested, you can get more information from Marla Zirin, Carl Levy or Lori Solomon.
Boy Scout Food Collection
On November 19, our Boy Scout Troop will be collecting food to benefit the local food pantry. When you come to services, please bring non-perishable food item to donate.
Community News
Federation's Super Sunday Annual Campaign Phone-a-thon is Sunday, November 20 at the Federation Office in South River. We hope everyone will make a pledge when asked. If you are available to volunteer to make phone calls or would like to sponsor a phone, please contact Federation.
